FJ-09 Encouraging Road Test Report

The report says Yamaha addressed the suspension problems that hinder the FZ-09. I wouldn't be a 1st adopter of this or any other motorcycle but I'm sure interested. A 460 lb, comfortable, twisty capable bike with moderate touring chops...what's not to like!?

Nice looking and functional bike but the price may be a little steep. I like the light weight and increased fuel capacity. It's worth a closer look.
Anybody ever try the Dunlap Sport Max D222 Roadsmart II tires claiming longer life?

I consider price one of the strengths of the FJ-09.

I've run the Roadsmart II rear and it's a decent tire. I find the center compound a tad too stiff for aggressive braking and acceleration, but that's just me. Haven't tried a front. Still, Roadsmarts are a step up for Yamaha - they've had some crap tire choices in the past.

Same here. The only other middleweight sport-tourer out there is this at $2500 more--> http://www.cycleworld.com/2013/04/26/20 ... ew-photos/

Unless there's something I missed.

Looks like a good bike to me. It is near the top of my replacemenet bikes when I am in the market for one, which won't be for a few years. Still waiting on Honda to jump in the game.

If you hold your breath waiting for Honda you're gonna pass out.

The way Honda is hyping the "True Adventure" they're setting themselves up to look really stoopid if they don't do something this time. So far, no specs or release date...all sizzle, no steak.

The BMW s1000xr is certainly catching my eye. But like Steve said, not for a few years. Plus, don't need to replace the tiger with something that does the same thing! When I swap bikes I like to try something different.

Here's a good on board GoPro review of the FJ-09 by Revzilla on Youtube. It's worth it to set hi-def 1080 and full screen. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AdnLnCxGEtw

Sounds good. Worth a look see. Not enough to displace the Super T however.
But why would you want to be like me... Old!?!?

The Versys 1000, maybe:

...if it makes it to the USofA, but I don't see myself on a six-fifty anything.

The 650 with suspension upgrades would be more than enough. I played with my buddy's 1st gen Versys and it was like a video game. Silly fast flick rate. He lowered the pegs a bit to help his knee pain and it was quite comfortable despite some extra sparks. We passed everything on the road, especially sportbikes, whose riders were either in pain riding or in pain standing by the side of the road. His new favorite is the CB500F. Even less power, but same result.

I think I am seeing the word "pain" more and more in your posts, lol. I'll give you a couple years and you'll be riding upright like most sensible primates. <grin>

If the K12S is ever returned, I will be upright.

To add insult to injury, I received a friendly "reminder" to have regular maintenance performed on the K bike that has been in the shop for the better part of 3 months. This was notably the SECOND reminder. The VFR has accumulated 4K miles since August in its place.

So did the K12S ever return? Or is she dead in the water.

The folly continues: I received an email that the bike was done on Tuesday. In order to not disappoint myself, I took the VFR out yesterday during the 70 degree awesome weather and ran the piss out of it. Probably harder than I should have considering the crappy weather earlier in the week. I called this morning to check if my inspection had been done to update my tags. They didn't do it until Tuesday March 3, despite several requests starting in December when I paid the tax. I will probably not get my sticker until next week. It has been OVER 5 MONTHS since this project began. I am hoping my injectors aren't clogged with gunky fuel. They can add that to the next service.

You need to find another shop. <yikes>

I am sorry that I didn't sell the BMW or do the work myself. I will probably be doing the remainder of the services on my own, since it is not saving me time or money to use the shop.

That's just silliness. I'd be up their rear ends with a few choice words and maybe a lawyer if they aren't cooperative.

You're just too nice Steve. If that was my bike I would have dragged it out in pieces if I had to after 1 month. And they just might have got the chance to see my war face.
