New Motorcycle... will be in my garage!

Unread postby Brick » Mon Mar 24, 2014 11:05 pm

Today I ordered the 2014 Yamaha XT1200ES Super Tenere!
I went with Romney Cycles in Romney, WV. I tried and tried to purchase from a local dealer but the price difference was too great.
He said it should be in a week or so. Once here I'll put my farkles off my 2012 Tenere on the 2014 and sell the 2012. He is also giving me 10 percent off on anything accessories for the bike.

Exciting isn't it??? <bana> <bana> <bana>

But also disappointing that the local dealer would/could not meet a valid offer from a competitor but instead opts for greed, on a bike that he wouldn't even have to put into his inventory. What a dickhead. Unfortunately that's also been my experience--my last 3 new Beemers were bought in Atlanta, Greenville, and Raleigh respectively, and the savings on each was between $1000-$2000. Some dealers just don't get it. <dope>

Agreed. Which of the local (Charlotte, I presume) dealers did you try? ...I bought the SV1000 from Team Charlotte Motorsports on Freedom Drive (also a Yamaha dealer), and they were a clueless bunch to deal with.

Congrats Dave! Same experience here. I went to Rockingham cuz the knuckleheads 3 miles from my house at Matthews Fun Machines don't want to sell bikes.

Nice, Brick! The ES should be very cool. When KLR shopping I considered a new one and the Hickory dealer wouldn't budge an inch off MSRP + dealer add-on BS charges.

I didn't try ANY stealers in Charlotte. I was working with Statesville.
The Super Tenere forum suggested Romney Cycles in Romney, Wv and C&D in Culman, AL. The one in AL was $750 higher than Romney.
Of note the dealer in AL had been the one selling FJR's at a great price for years. That is where my 06 came from.
