North Mountains Road reportTook the FJR out for a short shakedown ride after repairs. The rain yesterday morning has washed almost all of the salt/sand off the major roads. The north end of the BRP is clear. You still have to watch for water runoffs across the road, plenty of mud and rocks/gravel in these. Expecting more snow mid week so all of this is out the window. Tomorrow should be a good day in the NC mountains.

Re: North Mountains Road reportThis is great--the COFSTA resident high elevation road report man!! Your new title, Marc.
Keep us posted, maybe weekly, or whenever theres a big change. Bob
Re: North Mountains Road reportLee and I ran the Lake James-Lake Lure route today with an addition up/down NC-80 to the BRP turnaround. BRP is closed somewhere south of Mt Mitchell, but signs stated that the Mt Mitchell Park was open. We decided NOT to venture down BRP and ran down 80 to eventually finish the intended route.
It was a fantastic day with unlimited visibility, temps in the 60s, and virtually zero traffic. A very rare Saturday. Everything that spells FUN, will cost a little bit more than you can afford.
Re: North Mountains Road reportI bet I passed 2 cars on the north end of the BRP. There were more bike sout than cars
