PILOT ROAD FOUR

Unread postby Bob » Tue Jan 21, 2014 1:34 pm

Just as predicted, Michelin has rearranged a few grooves and sipes and introduced the "new and improved" Pilot Road 4's. They stop faster, last 20% longer, and feel more stable. These are the same claims they made on the PR2's and PR3's so at this point these new tires must last at least 12-15K miles, right? And stop in 20 feet from 60 mph. <dope>

My understanding is they are dropping the 3s and only keeping the 2s and 4s. So do I pay twice the amount for 4s or just stay with the sticky 2s and change them more often ? <squid>

Marc, how many miles you getting from the PR2's? I've got the 3's and only getting about 3500 on the rear and 6-7K on the front.

I get around 5k. There are guys who claim they are getting 10 to 12 out of the 3s I ran a set and got the same millage as the 2s but I did like them a little more I dont know if its in my head but I felt a little more confident in them

Its not in your head. I have used the 2's in the past and the 3's simply stick better in the corners and on wet pavement. Confidence is a good description. But I'm only getting 3500 with the 3's so looking for more mileage for the trip in June. Supposedly the 4's get better mileage so I'm thinking maybe on a road trip, using the 4's would get me out and back on 1 set....

I got 3784 miles on rear P2s. I tend to be hard on tires. I have not tried 3s but used Conti Street Attack on my R1 and got good grip and mileage. Just had to warm them up. I tired to post a pic of my shredded rear tire at the Snake but couldn't make it work.

Marc, pics have to be less than 1MB in size, preferably 100K-500K max to save space. Do you have a way to resize your pics? If not, there's a free one you can download-->> http://www.axiomx.com/picsizer.htm and some others on Cnet.

Also some help here-->> http://www.cofsta.com/viewtopic.php?f=2 ... p=724#p724

If you're still having problems, email me with the details and I'll try to help.
