Brain fart-wrenching on a bike

So, I have a tiny fly screen on my Shiver. It doesn’t do much. I also have a larger windscreen with a deflector on the top of it that I occasionally use. Today I decided to put the larger windscreen back on. Of course it is a different brand than the other and mounts differently. This one uses 2 clamps that go on the handlebars. The clamps have a nut in the bottom that is seated in it and has a plastic plug that covers it. The first clamp went on easily and I got everything close to lined up. I tried to install the 2nd clamp and I couldn’t get the bolt started. It just would not thread into that hidden nut in the bottom of the clamp.i repositioned the clamp several times trying to get the bolt to catch but no luck. I finally took the clamp back off and removed the plastic cover on the bottom. Yep, no nut. I must have fallen out hen I removed that windscreen the last time. A quick look through my boxes of fasteners and I was in business. This 15 minute job took way too long. Mr. Goodwrench I ain’t!

I have used a deflector like yours for 10 yrs or so on every bike. It really makes a difference in helmet noise and buffeting. <olfart>
