Double Island gravelfest

Unread postby tireatr » Tue Apr 12, 2022 8:21 pm

So I rode DI Monday before the rains came and there seems to be some black finely ground debris in various sections of the road. Some in the corners, some just along the straights. I can’t tell if the DOT dis something to control weed growth or just what the sand-like substance could be from.

Take your time and it’s not too bad, but I thought I’d share.

Is it still like this? I was thinking of heading that way sometime soon.

Bob and me did sports cars on Double Island Rd 5/25 and it much of it had been ground down which I assume would be prior to repaving. This video shows dust coming up from the rear of Bob's car and was the least difficult section. https://youtu.be/OA57o6Z-duQ

Rode it twice last weekend. Nice and clean. Rode it Tuesday after the morning storms and it’s a mess again. No clue how it gets clean after these never rains recently, but it seems to.
