I lost the cap on the clutch reservoir while riding

Unread postby flip » Wed Feb 17, 2021 9:31 pm

Okay, weird things happen when I’m around. Yesterday, I rode up to Morganton to meet a guy I was selling a Corbin backrest to. About halfway there, I noticed the cap was gone from the clutch reservoir on my Caponord. I’d never heard of that happening. It looks like the reservoir was hitting my tank bag near full lock. It gets even stranger...my clutch continued to function normally! Since it’s Italian, I decided to increase my odds of getting this problem fixed by ordering the replacement part from 2 dealers.

Not sure if one of those dealers was AF1 down in Austin Tx but they are THE best ape dealer in the US. They stock most common parts on newer and older Aprilias.

Yep, they were my 1st contact. I actually got to visit them a few years ago when my wife and I went to Texas for the MotoGP race.

Hmmm... strange. Is that cap a plastic screw on?
I can’t imagine how one with 4 screws could possibly come off. ???

Strange indeed. A photo would help my feeble mind “see” this.

Was there a rubber diaphragm under the cap?
