KTM 500 Adventure!

Unread postby LeeDavis » Tue Feb 13, 2018 4:47 pm

I mentioned this in passing on the last ride and y'all probably thought I was kidding. Not so! I just finished the job and here it is, the KTM 500 Adventure with tent, sleeping bag...everything! As soon as it warms up to something reasonable I'm going to try it all out and spend the night with the bears up in Pisgah. How cool is that! <icool>

Nah I knew you were serious. Looks pretty cool. Enjoy the bears, gnats, skeeters, and ticks. <muaha>

Edit: that bikes too clean--needs a nice coating of mud.

You even put the old man bard door windshield on it. [THUMBS UP SIGN] I must admit it is a fine fun looking machine. Just not for me... where would I put my Cpap machine and the miles long extension cord? [FACE WITH TEARS OF JOY][FACE WITH TEARS OF JOY][FACE WITH TEARS OF JOY]

CPAP for camping! http://www.thecpapshop.com/our-cpap-machines/travel-cpap-machines

That's not an old man windshield. It's a Rally Fairing! <grin>

I rode 40 miles up and back on a 100% snow melt, muddy Maple Sally the other day. It was so slathered in mud I had to pressure wash and it got embarrassingly clean.

Accommodating weather's getting close now so I pitched the tent in the back yard this morning to see how it works. Looking good! <bana>

How long did it take to set up? What if there is wind? And bears? And bugs? <muaha>

It took me 15-20 minutes to put it up. Now that I've done it once, it'll take around 10. A strong enough wind could blow it over. There are zippered screen flaps to keep bugs out but let air in. A hungry bear could go right through it.

Oh well, thats the adventure part, right? Be sure to hang all your beef jerky from a tree limb. <olfart>

I’d be putting it on a drop cloth/tarp or something.

Thanks for the tip but the floor and 1st 6" of the sides going up from the bottom are a separate, thicker waterproof material. Sharp rocks which might require a tent footprint aren't in my plan for camping.
