I rode a Piaggio MP3 500 once. Kind of different but worked pretty well. Always looking for something similar in concept with a lot more power.
What do y'all think of the Yamaha Niken? FZ 09 base should do the trick keeping up!

I watched the video and was disappointed not to see more advantages for the dual wheels listed. Sure, they look really cool and you get more front end traction but....anything else? Most of the bullet points at the bottom of the screen were just for other normal motorcycle technologies. The word "safety" was never mentioned. Surely theres more to it than this...maybe the marketing dept. is off for the holidays..... :?: I'd like to hear more because for me, anything that leans is in the running.

With bikes coming out with the new bosch type lean sensing ABS etc, the 2 wheelers are becoming safer. I had an MZ skorpion tourer at one stage. Super little bike. Riding one day, fortunately at low speed i locked the front, it is incredible how fast the bike went down, damn close to zero lock on the bars. Ever since then I have had great respect for the front brake! The front on the MZ was grabby and needed a lot of respect. After that changed the fluid etc to smooth it out. However shit happens when you least expect it and even with abs you can lose the front. There seems to be a definite advantage with the double contact patch to help with this. However pushed to the limit I guess this bike will still go down. I kind of like the look of the bike. from the side it looks like a normal bike. Kind of strange from the front and apparently is is no wider that the 2 wheelers of the same ilk. The MP3 is very popular on the continent. So now we have the Yamaha Tricity, the Niken, MP3 and now Honda is thinking about bringing out a leaner trike.

I want to try a ride on this "thing". <bana>

I read just the other day that it hasn't been announced IF this thing locks in the stopped standing still position like the Paggio did. I would hope it would.

Do the wheels lock so you can stop without putting feet down? What does it do when you get off the bike--does it stand up on its own because the front forks are spring loaded to an upright position? Questions like these were never addressed by the vid---and I'm sure there are many others I haven't thought of yet. C'mon Yamaha, get it together, gotta be more "stuff" to tell us about this---it looks too radical for there not to be.

Edit: Brick beat me to it by a couple minutes lol. Great minds and all that..... <grin>

No the bike does not lock. It has a side stand.
At least that is what i gather so far.
It would be a tremendous addition if they could figure it out. The MP3 does have that ability however but now only 400 cc and scooter design.

OK, back to the Niken. After looking at the closeups of this thing I would like to know this: what happens when one of the front wheels hits a large rock in the road---does that wheel bounce upwards independently of the other wheel or does it cause a sudden rocking motion towards the other wheel? Try and visualize that happening....

EDIT: Hey what about wheel alignment? Those front wheels need to be parallel I assume--what if they are not? Wha happens? How often they get out of alignment? Inquiring minds....

Looking at this pic, the road surface for that vid appears to be some really nasty chip-n-seal. Maybe there's a place for it around here! <grin>
