Well I did it again

Unread postby Brick » Sat May 20, 2017 12:09 pm

Had another heart attack while riding. Crashed the FJ-09. Broke some bones in my gad like Lee and my knee is the size of a cantaloupe.
Two stints. One in one of the veins that they had bypassed. The other new.

Sorry Brick. I didn't mean what Broz read into it. Trying to be a little cute but I guess I failed. I too went through what has happened to you recently and I too was working out and eating all the right foods and had the second heart attack! My wishes are sincere for a speedy recovery.

Jim not a problem. It does make one wonder about doing all the right things and still having issues. As people smarter than I said... "you can't beat genetics!" Heart issues are in my family.

My mothers family had the sucky cardio genes. Have been waiting to see if I got them. Do have the high BP part.

Same here. So far I have her atrial fibrillation and high BP. Her parents had other heart issues. You just never know.... <olfart>

Update... Each day is a little better. They set my broken metacarpals #4 & 5 left hand on Thursday. That was excruciating! Yesterday I got an MRI of my left knee. May have tendon or ligament torn. [FLUSHED FACE] Lots of black and blue!

Yesterday, Thursday 6/1 was two weeks after I had a follow up with EmergeOrtho. Lee picked me up in his pickumup truck. The visit was kind of a clusterFxxx! Did X-ray of hand then the nurse came in and unwrapped my hand. I tried to tell her No but she said she knew what she was doing! Well Dr came in looked at my unwrapped hand and turned around and said who unwrapped his hand!?!?! So the X-ray showed it was doing well but now he had to redo it which is excruciating! [POUTING FACE] Then he told me bad news on the MRI of my knee. I blew out almost everything in that knee! Monday I go to OrthoCarolina in Charlotte to a Sports Med guy to see what they can do. But I'm almost positive that they will need to do some major work in there! [FLUSHED FACE]
Damn!

Well the Orthopedic dr in Charlotte said he felt positive that my knee should scar over and not need surgery. Much better. He wanted me to stay off of it a bit... keep the immobilizer on when I was on it. Elevation and ice. Then come back in two weeks.
I take this as very positive! We will see.

Just now reading this and sorry to hear. I don't get updates on the brain Phartz forum for whatever reason, I'm sure Bob will chime in about clearing my Yahoo inbox or something. Hope you heal up quickly. Sounds like it could have been a lot worse! I will need a contingency plan for on-bike heart attack.

In light of sitting on my butt too much (a huge risk factor for cardiovascular events) and short 2 mile commute to work, I bought an E-bike that is on the way. Separate post to follow.
