Intro: flip

Unread postby flip » Wed May 28, 2014 5:48 pm

Hi. My name is Phil and I am 50 years old. I have not yet retired but my job gives me some days off during the week. I live in Cherryville, NC.

I bought my 1st street bike in 1982. I took a few years off from riding when my kids were little. I got back I to riding about 12 years ago.

My current ride is a 2007 Moto Guzzi Breva 1100. I bought it new, 3 years ago. I have made a few changes too it to make it better for me to travel on.

Last summer, I took my 1st long trip on a bike. I rode by myself to the Moto Guzzi national rally in Ontario. It was just over 1000 miles from home. I wimped out and took 2 days going up but I made it back home in 1 day, only stopping for food, gas and ...I enjoyed that but I don't think I will be doing any Iron Butt rallies in the near future.

I am currently rehabbing from a knee surgery I had in March. I hope to be able to ride by the end of the summer.

It may seem strange to join a motorcycle riding group while I can't even walk without crutches but I've had a lot of free time lately to sit and think about how much I miss riding. When I saw your group add in Craigslist, it gave me something else to look forward to.

Phil, I can sure empathize with your knee issues--that is NO fun whatsoever. When you're ready to get back on 2 wheels, we'll be waiting for you at the Halfway Hardware around 10AM. <muaha> You do know where the Halfway is don't you? Get well soon! And welcome! <welc>

Thanks guys. I'm really looking forward to meeting y'all.

Ed, I believe I may have read some posts from you on another forum I used to frequent when I had a 600 Bandit a few years ago.

Quite possibly so; I've been fairly active in the Bandit community over the years, and still tinker on them once in a while.

Welcome to the group. A few of us sympathize with the surgery. I had surgery and haven't been cleared to ride yet. Nothing worse than staring at your bike in the garage on a nice day ! <tour>
