Intro Capo

Unread postby Capo » Sun Dec 08, 2013 3:11 pm

Hey Y'all

Jim Calandro 67 and retired. I am all about Italian bikes and especially Ducati. I navigate by the sun and when I need a weather report I look up. Hard core old school. Some of you may know me as President of US DESMO. I do a lot of track days but have been trying to get into longer range riding. I use my Hypermotard for that. Added a larger tank so can now go 270 miles between fill ups. Unfortunately the seat is not have the same range the tank has. Originally from NY and have lived on the south side of Charlotte for almost twenty years.

Jim, Welcome! <welc>

270 miles on a Motard? Like to hear more about that tank--aftermarket? You're up there with the tankers at that range. Do you have a windshield on the tard?

We do quite a few 350+ mile day-rides, when weather and hours permit, hope to see you on one soon. Hell, I just hope to *DO* one soon--if the weather will just cooperate. <squid>

6.4 gallon tank from California Cycle works. 43 mpg and I am good to go. I did add a handle bar mounted screen, Sargent seat, heated grips and use a sheep skin cover for long trips. I have done 350 mile days on my 916 so the Hyper is not an issue. I have done a 600 mile day on it but it was way too hot, 98 and higher and burned my butt. Only soft luggage so it is not the best to take to an event because I cannot lock up my stuff so I hang around one of my BMW friends and look sad. Works every time. <violin>

Friday was a really good day for a ride. Light traffic just damp roads on the north slope of hills and under shade.
